Whilst Facebook provides users with the greatest number of options for privacy settings, they can be complicated to turn on, making them easy to miss. Two different pages need to be accessed to turn on privacy settings fully.
Friending your child doesn’t mean you will see everything they post, as they can deselect you from seeing their posts.
Users can “tag”, or identify, the faces in their photos. Turn on tag review in your child’s privacy settings and Facebook will notify them whenever they’re tagged in a photo before it goes live.
Facebook allows users to tag their location on every post. Tell your child about the safety risk in doing this, and change their privacy settings so their friends can’t check them in either.

Facebook can be the biggest culprit of distraction, because of its large amount of push notifications it sends to users. Turn off these notifications off your child's phone, so they are constantly prompted by Facebook to open the app.

Facebook is filled with links to external sites, but a lot of scammers access your personal information when you click on certain links and then fill in your information. We suggest that if taken to an external site, never enter in your personal information and don't accept any prompts that ask you to provide access to your Facebook profile.
